Lions Rock Photography Course 22 – 27 September 2019

Join me for this Photographic Adventure in the tranquillity of the Lions Rock Big Cat Sanctuary and take your photography to the next level.

Wildlife photography takes time to master and in order to take captivating photos, it is essential to have an intimate understanding of your equipment in order for you to take control of it. During the course you will be encouraged to develop your own unique style to share with the world. .

We start the day with coffee and spend some time outside working on Manual followed by a good breakfast before the 2 hour theory session. We will break for lunch followed by more theory and then the real treat of the day is going out where you will test your new knowledge & skills. You will be welcomed back for dinner and the majestic sounds of lions roaring and an exquisite display of the stars.

During the course we will cover, Photography Essentials ~ Composition ~ Techniques ~ Tips and Tricks ~ Photography Exercises ~ Basic post processing in LightRoom.

During our stay we will enjoy game drives, time at the big cat enclosures, sundowners from the highest area with expansive views and to end it all, a dinner in the cave on our last night.

We will be staying at the Lions Rock Lodge and the cost of this course is inclusive of your accommodation and meals. Beverages will be for your own cost.

The essential technical theory has been simplified in this course making it easy for everyone to understand. You will also get to know your camera, how it reads the light and all its settings as well as techniques to photograph a variety of subjects. Hopefully you will take all of this home with you and bring your passion of photography into your everyday life.

By the end of your week with me you will see a huge difference in the quality and style of your photos and more than that we will get to experience the Lions Rock Big Cat Sanctuary.

Big cats raised in captivity cannot be released back into the wild. LIONSROCK Big Cat Sanctuary, is a project by FOUR PAWS and provides an appropriate, lifelong home for big cats that were kept in inadequate conditions in zoos, circuses or private captivity. The habitat constructed for the big cats offers large areas for family groups, facilitation of natural behavior through enrichment and the highest standards of medical care and security. In LIONSROCK hunting, trading or breeding of big cats is strictly prohibited. All male lions are vasectomized, all male tigers are castrated. In contrast to castrated lions, vasectomized ones don’t lose their manes. They also keep their sexual behavior – without being able to reproduce. Moreover, we don’t interact or allow visitors to interact with wild animals at LIONSROCK.

With over 100 big cats (Pantherinae) currently living in the sanctuary (mostly lions but also tigers and leopards). LIONSROCK also accommodates a cheetah and one caracal which belongs to the zoological family of small cats.

LIONSROCK is also home to a variety of game including Wildebeest Blesbok, Burchell’s Zebra, Duiker, Eland, Impala, Lechwe, Mountain Reedbuck, Red Hartebeest, Reedbuck, Springbok, Steenbok and Waterbuck. Furthermore, there is also a wide variety of bird species that have found refuge on the farm on we will be privileged to observe and photograph .

LIONSROCK is funded by the donations of animal lovers from around the world who support FOUR PAWS. In addition to the donations, the lodge is an important source of income and all profits are directed to animal welfare at LIONSOCK. LIONSROCK also receives from time to time donations in kind.
